The Empress could give an pocket watches or other gift to anyone she thought deserved to have her monogram. They were ordered from the imperial jewelry workshop of Carl Faberge. Maria Feodorovna (Russian: , romanized: Mariya Fyodorovna; 26 November 1847 13 October 1928), known before her marriage as Princess Dagmar of Denmark, a Danish princess, became Empress of Russia as spouse of Emperor Alexander III (reigned 18811894).
She was the second daughter and fourth child of King Christian IX of Denmark Her eldest son became the last Russian monarch, Emperor Nicholas II of Russia - she lived for ten years after Bolshevik functionaries killed him and his immediate family in 1918.
