20 Antique Imperial Russian Brass Samovar with Original Brass Tray Complete

This beautiful brass Samovar originated from Tula, Russia, and bears the imperial Tula coat of arms. In the 1800's, Tula hosted Russia's first ever factory dedicated to the production of Russian Samovars on an industrial scale. Tula remains Russia's Samovar capital to this day, both producing modern Samovars and paying tribute to Tula's Samovar history with museums and locally funded educational programs.

This beautiful Samovar has a small handful of exceedingly tiny indentations, and areas where mild (and arguably beautiful) patina has formed over the course of its storied life. The boiler, charcoal chimney, and kettle show evidence of loving use, with nearly (presumably) 100 year old tea leaves still visible in the kettle. This Samovar is, by all accounts, a brilliant and wonderfully maintained piece of Imperial Russian history.

A window into Tsarist Russia. Pay close attention to the (admittedly difficult to photograph) finely pressed stamping showing date-of-manufacture, region, etc. And note the delightful swan-shaped steam valve at the top of the Samovar's boiler!

The attention to detail is incredible. The original brass tray somehow managed to stay partnered with its Samovar and kettle during the trio's 100+ year and 6000+ mile journey through history. All three components are part of this listing. This piece was found in the alcoves of an elderly and eccentric Tulsa-based collector's antiquities shop. How this particular Samovar came to find itself in Tulsa, Oklahoma, nearly 6,000 miles and 130 years!

From Tula, Russia, is a delightful mystery which adds to the story and allure of this exquisite antique. Perhaps this old brass gal will find her way back to Europe! Additional images will be made available upon request. If you'd like to see a different angle, or would like a better look at the beautiful stamping hinted at in the listing gallery, let me know! Kettle weight: 15 3/4 oz.

Base weight: 5 lb, 8 oz. Tray weight: 15 1/4 oz. Total estimated weight: 7 lb, 7 1/4 oz. The kettle measures roughly 15 in length; the Samovar. Its kettle measures in at roughly 20. She's big, to put it mildly. Item condition is reflected in the listing photos.
